Bandits killed 2,619, collected N970m ransom –Matawalle

.30,000 bandits in Zamfara forests, five other locations
Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State has given reason why his administration is negotiating with bandits, declaring that the option remains the only solution to the insecurity in the northwest state.
The governor explained that at least there are almost 30,000 bandits in 100 camps in the state and five other neighbouring states.
The neighbouring states are Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Kaduna, Niger and Katsina, according to the governor.
He said between 2011 and 2019, bandits had wasted 2,619 people, kidnapped 1,190 others and collected over N970 million ransom from their victims’ families during the periods under review.
The governor stated these through the state Commissioner of Information, Mr. Ibrahim Dosara in Kaduna on Friday.
Dosara, who said he was speaking for Matawalle, said the governor chose the path of peace with the bandits to stop the wanton waste of innocent citizens’ lives and property.
He said, “Before the coming of the present administration of His Excellency Dr Bello Mohammed Matawallen Maradun on May 29th 2019 as the Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Zamfara people were in devastating state of dilemma and fear of the unknown due to rural banditry. Rampant killings, maiming, kidnapping, raping, vandalism and attacks became the order of the day.
“From available records, over 2,619 people were killed between 2011 and 2019. This is in addition to the 1,190 people kidnapped by the bandits. The records also show that the sum of N970m was paid as ransom. While 14,378 animals were rustled within the period and over 100,000 people were displaced from their ancestral homes.
“People were traumatised. Farmers were prevented from going to their farms to cultivate the usual food and cash crops for their daily needs. There was general food insecurity in the state in particular and the region in general. The economy of the state was devastated by the crisis.
“This is in addition to the proliferation of both light and heavy weapons, with a high influx of bandits from the neighbouring countries, with no solution in sight. The crisis defied all forms of solution.”
The governor maintained that as result of the ongoing peace moves, over 60 bandits had so far surrendered their arms while 2,000 kidnapped victims were release through the repentant bandits.

I might end up being alone because of my sexuality —Gospel Singer, Donnie McClurkin
Gospel singer, Donnie McClurkin, is opening up yet again about his sexuality. Speaking in a recent episode of TV One’s Uncensored, he said he has had relationships with men and women and fears he may end up alone for the rest of his life.
McClurkin, 61, had previously opened up years ago about his past struggles with homosexuality, which he called a “perversion,” and claimed that he was able to suppress his sexual orientation. He admitted that he still had urges to be with men but chose not to.
“I didn’t know really what a woman wanted.I’ve messed up more than I’ve had good. My past relationships were a sprinkling of everything – men and women. When things get rough I go back into my safe place – my music and my ministry. Never having a long-term relationship in my life and never being married, I chalked that up. I will probably be alone for the rest of my life as far as a mate is concerned,” he said. 📸: DonnieMcclurkin/Twitter

Boko Haram claims responsibility for missing NAF fighter jet
Boko Haram claims responsibility for missing NAF fighter jet
The Boko Haram sect has claimed responsibility for the missing Jet of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF). A jet deployed against the sect in Borno State evening lost contact with radar on Wednesday evening.
Edward Gabkwet, spokesperson of NAF, had disclosed the identities of the pilots but said their whereabouts were unknown. But on Friday, Boko Haram released a video of the destroyed jet.
The video, which credible sources released to Daily Trust, showed the corpse of one of the dead pilots. In the seven minutes, thirty seconds footage, Boko Haram fighters were seen moving along a dusty road, in gun trucks and on motor bikes. The video showed that the aircraft exploded in the air before it crashed.
Towards the end of the footage, a masked insurgent climbed a wreckage of the aircraft and pointed his gun into the sky. “The Nigerian Air Force jet fighter with plate number 475 was sent to Sambisa to fight the Mujahideen.
“There’s no one that can fight God. This is the evidence of what God has done. There’s no way you will fight his people and this will not happen. The only way for you now is to repent. That’s the only way out,” he said in impeccable English. The military is yet to react to the claim of the insurgents.

Covid vaccine: My family will not take it, says Apostle Suleman
The General Overseer of the Omega Fire Ministries International, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has said he and his family will not take a jab of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The clergyman, as seen in a viral video, said his decision is based on something he saw medically about the vaccine.
Lamenting the reported restrictions placed on those who are yet to be vaccinated, Apostle Suleman said he’s ready to stand his ground if the vaccine is made mandatory.

He said, “There is a vaccine that’s going on that people are taking now. After you take the vaccine, you are still to wear your face mask, you are still to do social distancing, you are still not to shake hands with people, you are still to do every protocol.
“Some people have come up with all kind of theories, I don’t know what they call conspiracy but I could know that it’s theories and some say it’s the mark of the beast.
“Some say it’s the Antichrist but I’ve said to you before that, when the Antichrist will come, we will not be here. We would have been gone. I don’t say it is spiritual but I see something medical, that thing is not good and I’m hearing in some places now, they are making it compulsory.
“See people are watching online, they will misunderstand me. If you want to take it, take it but I’ll advise anybody who has consciousness not to take it, it’s not healthy.
“Maintain all the protocols you can maintain. If you want to take it, take it. I’m not telling everybody not to but I’m telling every Omega child. Forget it I know they are going to come up with laws that you must take it.
“There are some jobs now, especially in the medical line, they said everybody must take it, some hospitals and some nurses but don’t take it.
“Me, I won’t take it, my wife won’t take it, my children will not take it. If they say my child must take it before he goes to school, I’ll withdraw the child from going to school.
“I’ll not advise you take it but if you want to, go ahead but if you want my advice which I’m entitled to as your Pastor, I’ll say don’t take it.
“Listen to me, whatever I tell you take it to the bank, you will soon know. That’s how I gave prophecy here about Donald Trump not winning and people think I’m anti-Trump. I’m talking about something spiritual and they were being emotional.
“America, the kind of suffering they will suffer after one or two years, you will see it and it’s not the man, it’s the woman, that’s the president.
“The woman is the president, not the man, you will soon understand. He only came to prepare a way for her, when it happens you will know.”
Nigerians yet to register for NIN risk 14 years imprisonment – FG
Ali Isa Pantami, the Minister of communications and Digital Economy, says Nigerians who are yet to get their National Identification Number (NIN) risk up to 14 years imprisonment as stipulated by the Nigerian constitution

Pantami disclosed in a State House briefing that while owning a Sim card is optional, the NIN is mandatory. This is because a lot of transactions are being made with the NIN.
He added that 51 million Nigerians had registered for their NIN as of March 31, 2021.
According to Pantami, there are 189 million Sim card users in Nigeria.
Out of this figure, he disclosed they 150 million have complete registrations while the remainder has issues with improper registration.
The Minister explained that NIN will determine the total number of Nigerians that have registered.
“Based on the requirement by law, each and every citizen and the legal resident must obtain his/her National Identification Number (NIN), which is being coordinated by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), ” he said.
“It’s a requirement by law but many citizens ignore it.
“No country will be successful in education, health, budget planning, or national planning without a database of its citizens in place.

Beggars protest against low patronage in Oyo State
About 250 beggars in Ibadan, on Thursday, protest low patronage by members of the public following a recent rumour that some rich men usually ‘buy’ money from them for fetish purposes.
The report, according to the spokesperson for the destitute, Imam Abubakar Abdullahi, Serikin Hausawa of Hausawa Community, Oja’ba, Ibadan, had created deep hatred for his people.
“The reports that some wealthy people are buying money from beggars, including the physically-challenged people, for money rituals is not true. As a result of the claim that some ritualists do buy money from these beggars, there has been public resentment against these innocent people.
What we know is that traders, hawkers and commercial drivers do come to these beggars who are mainly blind and lame people, to change money (get smaller denominations). We need to clear our names so that people will not be punishing us for offences we don’t know anything about,” he said. 📸: Vanguard News

Failure To Register For NIN Attracts 14 Years Imprisonment — Minister.
More than 51million Nigerians have been enrolled for the National Identity Number (NIN). This was disclosed on Thursday by the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Pantami, during the weekly ministerial briefing organised by the Presidential Media Team at the presidential villa, Abuja.
He said registration for NIN is not optional but a mandate by law, warning failure to enroll precludes defaulting citizens and residents from operating certain functions like using banks and communication services.
He also warned failure to obtain the NIN could lead to between seven or 14 years imprisonment as stipulated by the Nigerian Constitution.
He said rather than population census that can be manipulated, NIN will determine the accurate number of Nigerians because of its uniqueness and tamper-proof.
He also disclosed about 189 million Subscriber Identification Module (SIMs) have been registered in the country, explaining 150 million, out of this number, are completed registration while the remainder have problems of improper
